Singer Laren
Museum, theatre, sculpture garden: Singer Laren has it all. A unique, private cultural heritage located in the heart of Gooi's artists' village Laren.
History
The American couple Anna and William Singer built the Villa De Wilde Zwanen here in Laren at the beginning of the last century. Here they received their friends, including many artists. Together they brought together an impressive art collection. In 1956 a museum and a theater were built at the villa.
Museum
Museum Singer Laren shows changing exhibitions. The Singer collection includes works from the period 1880-1950 by artists such as Anton Mauve, Jan Sluijters, Kees van Dongen, Leo Gestel and Bart van der Leck. In addition to paintings and works on paper, the collection contains a number of beautiful sculptures, including seven works by Auguste Rodin. This means that Museum Singer Laren has the largest collection by this sculptor in the Netherlands, culminating in the world-famous 'The Thinker'.
Theater
The theater presents a varied program including drama, cabaret, musicals, classical music, children's performances, and lectures. Click here for more information.
sculpture garden
The freely accessible sculpture garden was designed by the internationally renowned landscape architect Piet Oudolf and is furnished with sculptures by contemporary Dutch artists who investigate the relationship between culture and nature. Each work of art connects with nature in its own way.
