Cataphote means retroreflection. It puts five Hilversummers in the spotlight, but at the same time, the light shines back on the creator. In recent years, Veronique Jansen has followed people from her surroundings who fascinated her; Ben, Emma, Karen, Maya, and William. "It's so easy to pass other people by, but if you take the time to reflect on others and portray their story, you'll discover new sides of their lives."
For the art route, Museum Hilversum shows widower Ben. The common thread in this portrait leads from loneliness to zest for life. The exhibition is accompanied by a book of the same name and a website with Veronique's reflections.
